Mermaid Status

I am a mermaid.

Ok not really, but I would totally be one if it were at all possible. I’d hunt down Ursula the sea witch and trade whatever she wanted if I could have a tail whenever my legs got wet. Since I have no clue where Ursula is hiding, I’ll go for the next best thing: Mermaid Hair Shampoo and Conditioner.

All the reviews I’ve read on these products says it smells exactly like what you would think a mermaid would smell like – a light floral beachy scent made up of orange blossoms, the ocean breeze, and just a hint of coconut. Sulfate free and made of only natural ingredients this shampoo and conditioner set will give you hair just like Ariel’s from the Little Mermaid, shiny and full of volume. Seriously though, even if it didn’t smell all that great and didn’t do anything different from my regular shampoo and conditioner, I’d still buy it just to have it sitting on my bathroom counter. Seeing those cute little bottles would make me smile every time.

Oh Ipsy…

You got me…

logo-ipsy002I’ve heard of Ipsy before but $10 a month… yeah being a college student at the time when I heard about it meant I was BROKE and couldn’t afford it. Now I’m a hard working business woman who runs my own busines and guess what… I’m still broke. Ha! That’s what owning your own business means folks – all your hard earned money goes right back into the business. Why didn’t anyone tell me that part?

Anyways, I scrounged up enough cash to FINALLY be able to afford a year’s subscription so that I can do monthly product review videos just for you folks! Yay! đŸ˜€

Ipsy March 2013Every month I get a beautiful Glam Bag from Ipsy with deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products selected especially for me by YouTube makeup guru, Michelle Phan and her team of stylists.  Members can expect products from big name cosmetic lines like Bobbi Brown, Makeup Forever, Urban Decay to name a few, and even nail polish from O.P.I, Zoya and more! I can’t wait to get my first bag next month!

URBAN DECAY: ELECTRIC PALETTE MAKEUP LOOK

I’m a huge fan of YouTube makeup guru Desi Perkins. She does her make up the way I WISH I could do mine. Unfortunately, I’m a mom, I only have enough time to swipe on some foundation, line the eyes and get some lip balm on before the kids are ransacking the bathroom and throwing toilet paper everywhere.

Anyway, here’s Desi’s newest look using Urban Decay’s new Electric palette. Head on over to her YouTube channel for more makeup inspiration or ideas on what makeup products to try for yourself. Enjoy!

Beauty Bag

Everyone has a handful of favorites or staples that never leave their bag and these are mine.

Left to Right: Shiseido Eyeshadow, Bare Essentials Buxom Mascara, Lorac Liquid Eyeliner, Elf Angled Brush, Bare Essentials Foundation, Bare Essentials Kabuki Brush, Smashbox Powder Foundation, ELF Coverall Stick, Smashbox Primer, Sephora Red Tango Lipstick, Maybelline Perfect Plum Lipstick

Not sure if you’re a contouring kind of gal, but I don’t leave my house without a good “foundation.” Even if I wear nothing else for the day I make sure I even out my skin tone and give my face a little shape with these base cosmetics:

  1. Smashbox Primer – All over face primer
  2. ELF Coverall Stick – Conceal and highlight
  3. Bare Essentials Fairly Light Foundation – Fix skin tone
  4. Smashbox Medium Foundation – Contour with the darker color
Maybelline's Plum Perfect, Sephora's Red Tango

Then there’s my lipsticks. A bold lip is my signature beauty look, and I’m a sucker for an amazing red lip. I have two that never leave my bag – Sephora’s Red Tango for a perfect red and Maybelline’s Plum Perfect when I want something darker.

They have been well loved

Because my lips are always a bold color I rarely do more than line my eyes with a dark brown liner pencil and add a little mascara, but when I’m in a sassy mood I reach for my Shiseido pink eyeshadow palette. It brightens my dull brown eyes and keeps me looking fresh and awake even after half the day has passed. I add Lorac’s liquid eyeliner in black for a sleek cat eye and top it off with Bare Essentials Buxom Mascara in Black for thick long lashes. I don’t fill in my eyebrows like I know most girls do, but I do keep them clean and tamed. You could have an amazing eye look, but if you’ve got scraggly eyebrows you just don’t look pulled together.

And there you have it. My beauty bag staples. What’s in your bag?
