This summer has been turning out to be one hot and amazing season. I’ve been trying to spend most of it tanning next to a body of water and have succeeded thus far. I hope you have been enjoying the outdoors as much as I have. Unless, of course, you’re not into the whole “getting in touch with nature” thing – then I hope you’ve been at the cinema because this summer has seen some pretty good movies drop in the box office. I just hope, whatever you’ve been doing, you’ve been having fun.
July is wrapping up quick and next month promises to be much hotter. First thing me and my family are going to – The Clark County Fair. From rodeos, to concerts, to demo derbys and monster trucks, rides, games and food for days, there’s no reason you shouldn’t head out to Clark County Event Center and Fairgrounds in Ridgefield, Washington. Starting Augusts 1st there will 10 full days of crazy. If you don’t like kids, crowds, smell of deep fried yumminess, or carnival rides, please stay away from this fair. If you are still in touch with the kid inside you, or have kids, then please come on down! There’s a whole lot of fun to be had!

Going to the movies used to be about just watching a movie but a few years ago I discovered Cinetopia. It has changed the way I feel about the whole movie experience.
Before I would first plan where I was going to have dinner and have to take in consideration how long it would take to eat and then drive to make it to the movie on time. Now, I have Cinetopia.
Cinetopia is a movie theatre with it’s own restaurant and bar/wine tasting room depending on which location you go to. The Cinetopia at the Westfield Mall has a bar/dining area and the Cinetopia off of Mill Plain has a wine tasting room/dining area. Their food is pretty decent and their drinks are delicious. One of the many perks is that they have certain movie parlors that only cater to over 21, which is really nice when it’s date night. The last thing you want to hear is someone’s kid fussing when you left yours at home.
Also, if you don’t finish eating when it’s time for your movie, you don’t have to shove all your food in your mouth because in certain movie parlors they will bring your food and drinks into the theater! You can finish your food and even enjoy a glass of beer or a glass of wine while you are watching your movie. You can even order dessert to be brought to your seat. Oh! and at the Cinetopia off of Mill Plain, if you are there just for the movie, you can be seated early and enjoy a variety of soloists playing live music from the balcony. It’s really quite fancy! There’s comfortable seating, foot benches that you and a friend/honey can share and, if you are in a romantic mood, you can sit in one of their “love seats”!
So if you haven’t been to Cinetopia, I recommend you check Groupon first because they run a lot of deals. You can get in for less than $25 and get a free small gourmet popcorn. I have to admit that once you try Cinetopia you will not want to watch movies anywhere else. It’s the complete package. Go to http://www.cinetopia.com and check it out.
What better way to kick off Spring Break than with a Polynesian dinner show?!
Add a little color and heat to this grey weather with a whole lot of hip shaking and deep rhythmic beats. This Sunday, at Main Event Sports Grill located in East Vancouver, Ora Nui Tahitian Dance Troupe will be putting on a sneak peek performance of their summer show “Hina & The Eel: Tahiti’s Beauty & The Beast.”
Images from last year’s summer showcase
This small group is the only authentic Tahitian dance group in Vancouver so don’t miss out on enjoying a little bit of Tahiti right here in the Northwest. Come for the show, stay for the food, and get a chance at winning some sweet Ora Nui Tahitian swag. The group is fundraising for their show in June so bring a friend, or a whole group of friends, and help out these ladies and little ladies keep doing what they love.
Let’s kick off Spring Break Polynesian style this Sunday at Main Event!

Did I catch your attention or at least your curiosity? I hope that you won’t be disappointed to know that I’m talking about wine. First let me start off by saying that I am far from a wine connoisseur but I sure know what tastes good and drinking wines with names like Foreplay, Cougar, Tease, Fling and many more catchy names makes it even more intriguing.
The Naked Winery located in Hood River Oregon has an assortment of red and white wines that you can try in their assorted flights if you want to stop in for a taste. Their wine tasting room is small but very comfortable. You can either stand by the bar or relax at one of the comfortable sitting areas around the room. If you are like me and you can’t sit still, you can walk around and check out their risque’ merchandise. It’s sure to put a smile on your face and they have a lot of great gift ideas for all your open minded friends and family.

Now it’s not the most upscale place but it’s full of fun and nice people. I’ve been there a few times and have always enjoyed myself . How could I not when Naked Winery’s mission is “We aim to Tease”!
At Naked Winery we are on a mission to produce premium class Oregon and Washington wines, with exotic brands and provocative back labels that are just a bit risqué. We strive to change the conversation and encourage you to set the mood of fun and romance. Try opening a bottle of Foreplay with your Lover and see where the night takes you or give your friend a bottle of Bombshell Sweet Red to start off a fun girls night! There are so many wines to choose from for many different occasions. If visiting wasn’t enough time for you to try all the wines you wanted to taste then you can always join Club Naked and get wines shipped to you every few months. So ladies and gentlemen “Get Naked” and grab a bottle of Sure Thing or Booty Call and let the adventure begin. Cheers!
Ugh! with all this rain here in the Northwest sometimes we just need a quick escape from what is “normal” for us – wet, icky rain for months at a time. I’m thinking someplace exotic and far far far from here.
Morocco, a North African country that boasts both Atlantic and Mediterranean coastlines is a culturally rich and ethnically diverse region. If you would like to experience some customs and delicious Moroccan food then I found just the place for you.

It’s only a 20 minute drive from our Vancouver, Wa. border and it is worth going the distance. The ambiance is so interesting with soft lighting, soft music and tables close to the ground, some with fairly comfortable cushions that give you the whole Moroccan dining experience. The set up is not really intimate as the tables are close together but it gives way to meeting new people. Everything is eaten with bread and NO utensils, which my mother and daughter would absolutely love.
If you love eating with your hands this is the perfect place for you.
Dinner starts off with the servers washing your hands in a wash bowl and handing you a towel that you will definitely need during the course of your meal. The food is so full of flavor! I had the chicken with almonds and a sweet plum sauce and very tender lamb with a dark gravy that just soaked up in the bread. The best part is that it’s expected that you lick your fingers during and after the meal, where usually that would be seen as “barbaric”. And just while your belly is getting full they have belly dancers that come out and entertain you with their very sultry dancing. It’s so fun to watch and the dancers are very friendly and interact with the crowd. I was chosen with others to join the Belly Dancer on the floor and learned a few new moves and got to work off some of the delicious food I stuffed myself with.
Review: Two gravy covered thumbs up!
I highly recommend that you try this restaurant at least once and I guarantee that you will go back again. Now you would think that all this would cost a small fortune but it is very reasonably priced and more than likely you will have left overs to take home. You will leave there with a full and happy belly.
I am a big Kevin Hart fan so I knew I had to watch the movie. Finally did, with my husband, and I have to say that I would have been better off watching it with “my girls”. The movie showed the funny side of what men and women go through while dating, how relationships begin and end and begin again! (We’ve all been there).
Warning: The movie has a lot of adult content so please don’t take the kids. And of course every time the sex scenes came on, my husband would nudge me and give me the eye! Men…
It was mostly belly laughing fun but towards the end it started getting uncomfortably “too close to home”, you know, the real life things that happen in the course of most relationships (including my own). After the movie I felt the need to talk to my BFF to do some comparing, complaining and maybe a little “yeah, why do men do that?” kinda chatting that of course I can’t do with my hubby! I highly recommend watching this with your friends and not your significant other so that afterwards you can grab a drink and talk about how totally confusing the other sex is!
Rating: It’s a must see! Get your girls together and have a night out of fun and drinks!
